CARDIFF COUNTY & VALE YOUTH ORCHESTRA CONCERT 2016

Organised by the Rotary Club Of Cardiff breakfast

Whitchurch High school Dutch Barn Concert Hall provided the venue for this year’s concert entitled “Nobody Does It Better” a 007 tribute concert. The concert was organised to raise funds for the Orchestra and other Rotary charities. The orchestra comprising mainly 16 & 17 year olds conducted by Eric Phillips MBE, with Leader Alice Howell, were on great form and the substantial audience were treated to a variety of film scores in the first half of the programme.

After the interval Captain Sir Norman Lloyd Edwards KCVO,RD,JP,RNR, President and benefactor of the orchestra presented the annual Presidents prize “for outstanding contribution to the Youth Orchestra by a member still at school” to bassoonist Emily Topping.

Continuing the second half of the concert the audience were treated to a number of rousing Bond themes.The soloist for the evening 17 year old Emma Kaler who has won many awards, and gave a stunning performance of Skyfall, from the latest Bond movie. The concert concluded with John Williams’ Star Wars Suite and much applause for an excellent performance.
