Cucina Italiana at Whitchurch High School
It was a chilly morning when six pupils Emily Church, Joshua Davies-Lewis, Megan Gardner, Callum Garland, Luke Stephens and Nia Williams made their way to Whitchurch High School laden with a multitude of ingredients. Yes, an Italian Theme had been chosen by these pupils who had decided they would enter the Rotary Young Chef 2016 competition.
They were asked to prepare a healthy three course meal for two people costing no more than £15. Between them there were very unusual dishes and the judges had a great time tasting the delicious food prepared.
Chef Beth from Whitchurch Golf Club and Mrs Sian Jones said the standard of dishes prepared was extremely high. They had a difficult task choosing a winner and a runner up but both agreed that the winner was Megan Gardner, with Emily Church as runner up.
Megan will now go forward to the Rotary Young Chef Area Final on 8th February at Bryn Hafren School, Merthyr Dyfan Road, Barry CF26 9YQ
All competitors worked very hard for the competition and they can all be proud of the meals they produced. A special thanks to their teacher Mrs Sarah Smith who advised and encouraged them during the preparation for the competition.
