Purple 4 Polio Crocuses for 2024

Continuing the success of our crocus planting over the last few years, find out how your Rotary club or community group can help paint District 1090 in the Thames Valley even more Purple4Polio in the Spring of 2024.

In 2016, Rotary Clubs and RHS groups across Britain and Ireland planted over 7 million crocuses. We are particularly proud that in District 1090 clubs and their partners planted 340,000 crocus corms. In 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 (despite the pandemic) we repeated our success, working with schools and community groups to plant more bulbs.
And we are still going! If there is a roundabout, hospital entrance or public garden without purple in the Spring then we want to be there!

The Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland Polio Team have secured 2 million crocus corms which can be ordered at the price of £175 for a box of 4,000. These will be sold on a first come first served basis and if more can be secured it is expected that the price will rise. The absolute deadline for orders is 18th August 2023. This year we have two types of crocus and you can state your preference on the form. Other details are explained on the order form. Crocuses will be delivered to our district polio team in September and then distributed to clubs.

The aim of the crocuses is to raise awareness and raise funds for the End Polio Now campaign. Let's continue this project for an EIGHTH YEAR!!

We will be holding the 33rd Donkey Derby - a great family day out- at Burnham Park on Saturday May 25th 2024 the weekend of the May Bank Holiday

Our annual Burnham Beeches Rotary Charity Run is a VIRTUAL event and entrants took part during July to September 2022. The funds raised were donated to Shelterbox to help those affected by the Ukraine crisis.

After two years of restrictions we held a Donkey Derby with a difference on Saturday 28th May 2022. There was great arena entertainment, lots of stalls, food offerings, funfair, plus of course - DONKEY RIDES.
