Morag and Yvonne wowed the audience at this sell out event

The club was proud to present an evening's musical extravanza featuring Morag McLaren in her "Original One Woman Show" on 25th May at Cooper Hall, Frome.

Also featuring support act, Yvonne Lawley, this sell out event in celebration of Rotary Foundation's 100th anniversary and raising money of the Foundation's End polio Now camapign, was enjoyed by all.

The club is very grateful to Morag and Yvonne for donating their time and to Cooper Hall for the use of the fabulous venue.

We are also very grateful to local sculptor, Ian Marlow, who donated a signed copy of a poem he wrote along with the sulpture that it inspired called "Spirit of the Air". This was the star raffle prize.

As a result of this event some 10,000 children can be vaccinated against polio. We are very close to its eradication which will be a tremendous achievement.

Since 1985 when Rotary pledged to rid the world of polio the number of cases has reduced from 1000 a day in over 120 countries to just 5 so far this year (as at end May 2017) in total in just two countries (Afghanstan and Pakistan). Vaccinations have to continue until there have been no cases for five years, then the world can be declared free of polio forever.
