Cairncross Trophy

OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE
COMMUNITY
The Rotary Club of Perth make an award each year to recognise
outstanding service to the community. The CAIRNCROSS TROPHY
in memory of James Cairncross has been awarded this year to
ALLAN YOUNG. Music Co-ordinator for Perth and Kinross Education
and Children's Services leading a team of 29 highly dedicated
instructors who deliver instrumental tuition throughout Perth and
Kinross. Inspiring and encouraging many young people to excel in
and enjoy music and enhancing Community life through music.
A committed volunteer he gives of his own time at Residential
Youth Camps. Since 2000 he has been the conductor of Perth Youth
Orchestra. In June 2005 he was honoured and proud to conduct
PYO in a performance of Walton's Crown Imperial to Her Majesty
The Queen in the new Perth Concert Hall and to be able to
introduce some of the orchestra's members to her majesty.
