Rise Against Hunger
Lytham Rotarians joined others from around the District in Cartmel, Cumbria where Grange-over-Sands Rotarians had organised meal packing for Rise Against Hunger.
A one-day event in Cartmel Primary School saw 60,000 dried meals packed for families in Africa.
Not only was it a great achievement, but it was a fun way of helping send aid to Africa and getting to know fellow Rotarians from around Cumbria and Lancashire as well as other volunteers who had given up a few hours to help.
Rice, lentils, soya and vitamins were all packed carefully, weighed and sealed in plastic bags before being packed in large boxes and sealed again for transportation.
And while some were having an away day, others were busy collecting on Friday and Saturday at Booths Lytham store for the Cyclone Iada.
As a result of the generosity of shoppers we have been able to send £500 to Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland Trust Fund to ensure the cash goes where it is needed to help rebuild in the three countries affected by the disaster.
We were so inspired that we are now planning our own event next May — see below for details of how you can join us.
