The Harbour Darts Team is in unchartered territory, having won three matches in this year's District Competition.
Each match has followed a similar pattern, ending with us needing to get a double 1 to win. Our personal best so far is to take 20 minutes to achieve this...
The team is led by Neil "The Chief" Stratford, ably supported by John "Jockie" Christopher, Tony "Lofty" Osmend, Glyn "The Saint" Brown and Ken "Two Eyes" Holmes.
The highlight of our last match was when Lofty scored a triple 19, a double 19, and finally a single 19 with three darts (same go). It was just a shame that we were trying for a double 1 at the time...
The Eastgate pub in Chichester has proven to be the ideal venue for our matches to date: good beer, nice sarnies and friendly staff. http://www.eastgatechichester.co.uk
An update!!!! We took on the All Stars of Rushmoor away at the Windmill in Ewshoot AND WON in the 4th Round. We now play Storrington in the next round... Will the dream ever end?!!
A further update!!!!!!!!! Once again we won and so on we march to the Semi-Finals. It's quite remarkable...
OMG !! we have reached the final...how on earth did that happen?!
The final is due to take place in Billingshurst on 16th July.
Could it happen? This could be the greatest sporting surprise since Southampton beat Manchester United in the FA Cup Final in 1976...
No...the dream is over. In the final we finally came up against a team that could actually play darts.
Whilst we put on a brave show, we eventually lost 3 to 1 against Caterham, who had won the competition for the previous 2 years.
It has been a wonderful journey with much laughter and fun along the way but it just wasn't to be.
Here's to next year...
