Vocational Support for Students

Vocational Support Projects

Our Aim is:
To support local schools and colleges in their efforts to ensure that all of their students have the opportunity to develop their individual skills and reach their full potential.

Dictionary 4 Life'

Every year the Club presents pupils at several local schools with a 'Dictionary 4 Life', a pictorial dictionary containing 1,000 illustrations, 10,000 entries and 20,000 definitions to help children develop their literary skills.  The dictionaries are printed in full colour on leaflet grade paper from a sustainable forest and contain 288 pages.

In September 2021, former Club President Katy Harris presented Y5 pupils at St. Peters junior school with some of the dictionaries donated by the Club this year.

Young Students Competitions 2021

Every year the Club runs competitions for students of several age groups. Among the following pictures are some of the winners and entries from this year's event.

Where and how we can help -

Some regular activities – mock interviews, enterprise challenges etc have been impacted by COVID 19 restrictions.  There have still been many areas where our help has been welcomed. Assessing mock college applications and essays, contributing towards the purchase of headsets and additional play equipment, advice on the acquisition of refurbished IT units, even basic gardening to keep educational premises looking tidy have all been on-going. Most encouraging has been the significant growth in the number of schools entering the Rotary Youth competitions. Entries increased from an average of 60 to 219! Watch this space for a list of winning entries and examples of the stunning artwork completed by your students.

Now that schools have re-opened and as remaining restrictions ease, we are ready to respond to requests for assistance.  If you believe your students could benefit from any of our activities or you would appreciate the chance to discuss your own ideas, issues or concerns, please contact us vocational@farnboroughrotary.co.uk at any time during this academic year.
