Weekly meeting

Thu, Sep 3rd 2020 at 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

A talk from Martin Parker

16 members attended this evening's meeting, held via Zoom, at which Martin P regaled us with his story of a very eventful trip to South Africa in 1961 with a Cambridge University Arts Study Group. At the time he was neither a Cambridge Student, nor did he know much about Art. Several stopovers were required en route to Pretoria, including Basle, Khartoum and Entebbe. The group were given VIP treatment as they visited various sites, including the Kimberley diamond mine and a huge glass making factory. At one point on the trip he found himself hitch hiking across South Africa on his own for 4 days. A memorable trip indeed.
