Due to the Covd-19 pandemic it has been, with great reluctance, decided to cancel the event for 2021.This decision has been taken after discussion with Avon Valley Runners and is in line with UK Govt guidelines and regulations.
It is not feasible to hold the event at a later date due to the number of races in the UK calendar.
We are determined to host the event in 2022 and will endeavour to make it a celebration everyone's efforts in the preceding period to battle against all adversity.

The Imber Ultra Marathon is a 33 mile race starting and finishing at the Leighton recreation centre in Westbury.

It is organised and run in collaboration with the Avon Valley Runners.

It starts and finishes at the Leighton Recreation Centre.  The runners ascend the escarpment of Salisbury Plain and then follows the Imber range perimeter path.  The runners pass through some of the more remote parts of southern England skirting the British Army's Training Area (ensuring not to stray into prohibited land).  The going varies from road to tracks and thick mud is usually encountered, the prevailing wind can be counted on to be a headwind where ever you are.

It is usually run in an anti-clockwise direction from the Leighton Recreation Centre, however in 2022 we may decide to reverse the course and the reunners will complete the course in a clockwise direction.  This will be discussed at great length as we have never mislaid a runner and don't wish to tarnish a clean record!

It is a highly competitive event with up to 150 runners from around UK taking part.
