Lunch time meeting - ZOOM Meeting our speaker this week is Louise Blanchefield Nutritionist and Physio

Thu, Oct 29th 2020 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

On Thursday 29th October 2020 President Geoff Sampson welcomed 19 Club Rotarians and guest speaker Louise Blanchfield also guest’s ex Rotarian Chris Grist and ex Rotarian Lars Christiansen’s wife, Julie to this lunch time meeting held by ZOOM.

Two Rotarians apologised for non-attendance.

Our speaker this week was Louise Blanchfield a chartered physiotherapist and nutritional therapist. Louise’s interest in nutrition all started when her husband was diagnosed with an inflammatory arthritic condition which was secondary to his inflammatory bowel disease and was told, 'no-one gets better, everyone gets worse and you could be in a wheelchair by the time you are 60'. At this point he was walking with a stick, unable to play with their young child due to painful and swollen joints. He was only 40. Through the dietary changes Louise researched and implemented into the family diets not only did he stop deteriorating, but he also got better, and both his arthritic condition and inflammatory bowel disease had gone into remission. Louise then got qualified to spread the word to as many people as possible about how food and lifestyle can seriously change your health and your life!

Louise is in a unique position being a chartered physiotherapist and nutritional therapist. Physiotherapy is all about restoring normal movement and, for her, nutritional therapy is about helping your body to restore normal system function. So, any nutrition plan is designed to optimise a combination of food changes and exercise to maximise your chances of improving your health. We are all different, our guts are as unique as our hair and eye colour so, just because one of us is okay to eat something, does not mean that we all can. We need to work out what our body needs more of or less of than other people. Assessment with Louise would look at your symptoms and the food you eat to see what vitamins or minerals you may be lacking in. Louise then devises a plan specifically for you taking your health issues into consideration but working with you so that your plan suits you, your budget, your lifestyle and any time constraints that you may have.

Louise will give you your plan, meal suggestions, a 3 day menu, shopping lists and recipes all included in the initial consultation fee to help give you the best chance possible to make the changes that you need to in order to start feeling better. Follow up emails are also included in the fee.

You can also see a whole load of recipes on her website  Nutritional therapy is all about helping people to help themselves, Louise is available to help and guide, it's you that does the real work as you make the changes.

The Rotary vote of thanks was given by President Geoff Sampson.
