On Thursday 5th November 2020 President Geoff Sampson welcomed 17 Club Rotarians and guest speaker Jacqueline Macdonald to this lunch time meeting held by ZOOM.

Three Rotarians apologised for non-attendance.

Our speaker this week was Jacqueline Macdonald who has worked with Citizens Advice and Rights Fife (CARF) for the past 18 years and she took over in the role as Services delivery manager in June this year. CARF is the umbrella organisation for Citizens Advice Bureaux in Fife. Citizens Advice Rights and Fife is an independent charity that provides free expert advice and assistance to help individuals resolve their problems – no matter what these are.

Individuals receive free, confidential, independent and impartial advice where CARF use their team of 200 highly trained staff and volunteers who offer a comprehensive and quality money advice service to clients.  They work collaboratively with a variety of support agencies to encourage referrals and ensure clients have access to timely advice, information, and practical support. In 2018/19 alone, they made a difference to over 14,000 active clients with a Financial gain of over £11.5 million for their clients. They gave over 24,000 hours of volunteer time, dealt with 1,300 multiple debt cases

Leading up to Christmas the club are looking to support Fife Women’s Aid, Fife Gingerbread, Collydean Community Centre which acts as a support hub , Glenrothes Foodbank, Lesley Pantry just to name a few and are looking for many different types of donations, which could be money, foodstuffs or Christmas gifts which will be collected and distributed by the Rotarians. This coming week Thursday 12th November 2020 at 1pm on ZOOM we will be given a talk by Alun Morgan from the Rotary Club of Alloa on a global eye project they are involved with.
