Lunch time meeting - ZOOM Meeting our speaker this week is Mike Storr Masters of Mirth - comedy

On Thursday 26th November 2020 President Geoff Sampson welcomed 17 Club Rotarians.  Wilma Page wife of Rotarian Ron and speaker Mike Storr to this lunch time meeting held by ZOOM.

Four Rotarians apologised for non-attendance.

Our speaker this week was Mike Storr who has been a Rotarian for 39 years and was a Past President at Carlton Rotary Club in (Nottingham). He was Born in Lincoln and is a Freeman of the City of Lincoln and was a Regional Finalist on ITV’s Pride of Britain Awards 2019 in the 'Fund Raiser of the Year' category. His whimsical talk on Masters of Mirth was an affectionate look at some of his favourite Music Hall laughter makers, Mike provided an EXCELLENT and HUMOROUS presentation with stories from the great Music Hall acts favouring Robb Wilton, Sir George Robery, Marriot Edgar, Gerard Hoffnung, Stanley Holloway, Sir Bernard Miles and Pam Ayres, examples of their acts including their famous monologues

Mike, who is a lifelong asthmatic, has been raising money for Asthma UK and after today has now made 503 presentations to all sorts of organisations online and has raised a magnificent £28,500 in the process.

The Rotary vote of thanks was given by Brian Johnson.

Our Christmas appeal has been truly amazing, having delivered to Leslie Pantry, Kats Mission in Kinglassie with Glenrothes Strollers uplifting, we will be arranging delivery to Markinch Community Council, Fife Women’s Aid and Collydean Community Centre which acts as a support hub , Muirhead Outreach and Love Oliver over the next week we have also supported the Glenrothes Foodbank with a monetary donation. Many different types of donations, which could be money, foodstuffs or Christmas gifts will gladly be accepted and collected and distributed by the Rotarians. Our Christmas appeal has now reached over £1100 plus loads of Selection Boxes / a TV / a Christmas Tree / Books / Clothes / Toiletries well done to you all’

In addition, our Gingerbread collection which Scott Galloway is lead Rotarian for has raised £795 in cash and selection box donations.

This coming week Thursday 3rd December 2020 at 1pm on ZOOM Jennifer Gill, founder of the Love Oliver charity (children’s cancer charity) will be giving us an update on her charity.
