On Thursday 25th March 2021 President Geoff Sampson welcomed 22 club Rotarians, to this lunch time meeting held by ZOOM.

No apologies for non-attendance were received.

Our speaker this week was Rotarian David Cooper who had prepared a presentation on reminiscing on a Caribbean Cruise. The Caribbean islands have been captivating travellers for centuries. They are most famous for their beaches – stretches of palm-backed sugar-soft sand that rise from gin clear shadows in a striking blue sea. David well known for excellent photography showed many lovely pictures which brought back many memories for those who have been fortunate to have been on a cruise to the Caribbean. Showing off some of the 35 unique destinations with the white sand beaches and beautiful blue skies David who had flown to Barbados and in an anti-clockwise direction around the Caribbean explained many of the stop off points on the trip.,

The Rotary vote of thanks was given by Wilna Roger.

Last Sunday along with the Friends of Riverside Park Group we carried out a socially distanced Litter pick which was enjoyed by all. Thanks to all who turned up.

President Geoff Sampson was still receiving Children’s clothes and Toys which he will be taking to Love Oliver when they reopen for business. He had also been sourcing beds and clothing for the Leslie Community Pantry. A contact of Iain Haywood’s advised that he had old computers which Geoff collected and took down to HAGO.

Iain Haywood and David Cooper have been involved sourcing plants for our Environmental planter at Riverside Car Park and as soon as they are available, we will be adding the plants to the planter.

Ewen Macdonald / Scott Galloway / Wilna Roger have been involved for Easter, with Ewen liaising with Denise at Morrison’s on the purchase and collection of Easter Eggs with Scott Galloway contacting Fife Gingerbread and Wilna Roger contacting Fife Women’s Aid and Muirhead Outreach and supporting these groups by supplying them with Easter Eggs.

We are looking to place an order for club Jerseys,

Wilna Roger advised that our Books abroad project had now commenced and that all kinds of books would be accepted but in the main we would be looking for Educational books.

David Cooper mentioned that it could be a great day out for all the family by going along to Riverside Park from Friday 2nd April for until Easter Monday on the Easter Bunny Hunt and Quiz!

The ongoing Old Tools and Sewing machines project lead by Rotarian Iain Oates (phone 07423 195333) in conjunction with The Ecology Centre at Kinghorn’s Tool Shed who are refurbishing old tools donated by the public and, with the help of the charities Tools for Self-Reliance and the Global Concerns Trust, are shipped out to people with physical disabilities in Malawi. We have to date received 12 sewing machines, many lawn mowers which have been received from members of the public and we are profoundly grateful as these will be refurbished if needs be and used abroad to establish businesses in deprived townships. Anybody who have Old Tools or Sewing machines would you please be good enough to let us know and we will gladly collect. Contact can be made through our Facebook page or if you know a Rotarian please do not hesitate to contact them. Five trailer loads have been given to the Ecology centre already and the project is ongoing. Many thanks to all who have been involved.

On behalf of Iain Haywood, Geoff advised that the online Auction would go live this coming Monday 29thMarch and will run for a week with Golf associated prizes including 4 balls and clothing.

This coming week Thursday 1stApril 2021 our meeting will be held on ZOOM at 1pm when or speaker will be George Cuthill from Fife Voluntary Action Group. The Rotary vote of thanks will be given by Anne Sampson.
