46th Charter Night

Thu, Jul 29th 2021 at 6:15 pm - 11:00 pm

Thursday 29th July 2021

After Charter Night had had to be cancelled in 2020 and then postponed from 24th June to 29th July 2021, it was a relief we could finally celebrate the Club’s Charter.

The Presidential Handover had been performed (virtually) on 24th June, but otherwise the evening was as in previous years.

Organised by (now) Past President Neil, 66 guests arrived from 6:15 for a Welcome Drink in the Margaretting Suite, Ivy Hill Hotel. Then followed a delicious 3 course dinner of our pre-selected menu choices plus tea or coffee.

A topical and meaningful Grace was said by Vice President Nigel Wagland  - John Metcalfe did the Loyal Toast to The Queen. Then Lord John Petre proposed ‘Rotary Club of Ingatestone, replied to by Past President Neil. Next, Alan Pudney proposed ‘Our Guests’, replied to by Brentwood Rotarian Dave Eagles.
In conclusion President Noelle said a few words before toasting ‘Rotary & Peace The World Over’.

Then it was…..”Let The Dancing Begin”  - to music we all knew  - performed by Rita B & Lee J Entertainment Duo. The floor was pretty well populated at times!

Senga was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers – a gift from WRINGS and the club members.

Thanks go to Sally and Marion for the lovely table flower decorations. And thanks go to Libby and her Ivy Hill team for ensuring the evening went smoothly.

From all accounts, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the night and seeing each other face-to-face again; it all made for a most enjoyable evening out! It’s beginning to feel almost normal again.
