On Thursday 2nd September 2021 President Brian Johnson. took the chair as he welcomed 17 Club Rotarians to this our first face to face evening meeting held in the newly refurbished Gilvenbank Hotel in over 18 months since the pandemic hit us. We commenced the meeting with an excellent meal prepared by Steph the Chef.

There were 6 apologies for nonattendance.

We have over the past few years inducted numerous new members and President Brian invited those new members present to give a brief intro akin to a vocational but much shorter, those who spoke were David and Beverley Cooper, Scott Galloway, Doreen Gray, Kay Johnson, Chantal Mrimi and Derek Noble

Anne Sampson spoke further as she discussed the forthcoming fundraiser on Sunday the 3rd of October from 2-5pm which will be our vintage afternoon tea to be held at Studio8 in Glenrothes with singing and dance routines. All plans are now in place, we just need to sell 120 tickets. If anybody reading this would be interested in supporting this event, please contact us on our Facebook page or phone Anne Sampson on 01592 749071

Geoff Sampson spoke about the annual Gavel competition, which was due to commence in September, as many clubs have decided to withdraw from it due to the ongoing issues with COVID, he asked the members how they felt and would they prefer this being pushed back to Spring 2022. The decision being that we would participate in Spring 2022.

Geoff Sampson asked Will Wishart if he could contact Thornton Golf Club with a view to booking 3 tee off times on Wednesday 29th September for the annual Presidents Golf trophy which Will won last year,

This coming week at 1pm on Thursday 9th September will be lunch time meeting on ZOOM when we will have Rose Duncan and Gary Waddell speaking about the Gilvenbank community hub and an initiative which they are looking to introduce there on Sporting memories foundation. Geoff Sampson will give the Rotary vote of thanks.

If you were interested in supporting the community and international projects get in touch by Private message on The Rotary Club of Glenrothes Facebook page. You will be made most welcome.
