This was a lovely walk with great views to the sea and over open farm land. The section through Elie Estate was a delight, with fine views of Kilconquhar across the loch.
The distance was 5.4 miles including a diversion into Kilconquhar. We met outside Elie Church for a 10:30 am departure, going into Earlsferry, up Ferry Road, then left to the Grange and round to the car park for Shell Bay.
From there we went right to the end of the Shell Bay access road and across the A917 towards Kilconquhar, joining the B941 into the village. After a short look at the very picturesque village we returned by the B941, turning left into Elie Estate at the gatehouse shortly before the junction with the A917.
There was clear signposted path through the estate, ending at the A917, where we turned right to return to the start. Paths were good and the route was mostly level, with a couple of fairly gentle inclines.
Lunch was booked at the Ship Inn in Elie and the 12 walkers and one non walking member made the inn by 13:00.
Thanks are due to Past President Tom for finding an excellent venue for our walk and lunch.
