The Bicycle Re-Cycle Event

Sat, Sep 25th 2021 at 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Thank You for all the donations of bicycles.
Over 100 bicycles were donated on Saturday 25th September.

Re-Cycle donatoins - Thank You

The charity re-cycle.org was absolutely delighted with the bikes and said that they were exactly what was needed.

For shipment, saddles, pedals and front wheel are first removed  to make space. This allows the charity to put 500 in one container.  There is a shipment due very soon and ours will be put in this shipment going to Ghana.

They often receive bikes which are unsuitable for Africa, but which they can sell to fund their work. Bikes like racing bikes or bikes with complex parts wouldn't remain sustainable in Africa, so their qualified bike mechanic fixes them up ready for sale.  You can pick one of their bikes up from between £75 to £150 and occasionally they receive top of the range bikes as well as a selection of children’s bikes, lights and locks.  All available from its shop in Wormingford, Colchester.

This was a joint event by Dunmow and its Takeley Satellite Club.

We would like to thank the people in Dunmow and Takeley for their generous donations.
