We were finally able to hold our youth awards evening on 24th September. Usually it would be held in June or July but we had to postpone it because of the restrictions. It had been a difficult year for everyone, but we still received interest from schools, guides and individual entries for all the competitions; and were able to hold our new Young Musician competition on line.
Winners from the Young Writer, Young Photographer, Young Artist and Young Musician competitions received their certificates and prizes.
Past President Willie Fraser conducted the event at the Rowena Davey Centre as it was the culmination of the competitions in his year of Presidency. The Mayor, Patrick Lavelle, attended and congratulated all the young people on their achievements. Nell Ramdenee, our overall Dunmow Young Musician champion, gave a special piano rendition of “Big my Secret’ from The Piano by Michael Newman. 45 people attended the event, including prizewinners, parents, Rotarians and a few guests.
