BREAKFAST

Business:             Pat said a Happy Birthday to Margaret on behalf of the club.

International:  It was TWAM last Saturday.  Pat said that we have had a nice thank you letter from them for all the tools we collected, including 2 1/2 car loads from the playing field.  Among the items collected were 16 sewing machines, apparently.  Andrew B proposed a vote of thanks to Andrew M for his efforts in organising TWAM each year.

Comm / Voc:  Pat reminded members it is gardening at the Whit & Tank this coming Saturday.  The garden at the back isn't too bad, so we will concentrate our efforts on the hedge at the front and a tree which needs pruning.

Fund Raising:  David M has circulated a poster for Race Night on Saturday 8th July.  Sue asked if a screen shot of the poster could be put on our Face Book page?  The next car Parking day will be on the extra Bank Holiday Monday 8th May.  We didn't have the events folder handy, so Pat took down a list of volunteer names.

Board Meeting:  The next one will be on Tuesday 9th May at Nick's house.  Andrew B and Pat gave their apologies; they will be at the event for Shelter Box at the British Museum in London.  A propos Shelter Box, David M said he will circulate another email about the local event in Canterbury.

Youth Opportunities:  Margaret said she has one entrant already fro the Young Chef competition in September.  She will send an email reminder to local schools before they break up in July.  She will also mention the Young Photographer competition.

Miscellaneous:  Pat said she is due to attend a Cluster Meeting this week end at the White Lion.  The presentation for Walk4Water school representatives will be at our breakfast meeting on 15th June; can we have a good turnout for this meeting, please?

Gerri gave feedback from the PET meeting she attended last Saturday.  Key themes included Recruitment and Raising Awareness.  Members are being encouraged to use My Rotary.  Three themes will be at the forefront during the next year:

                Mental Health

                Children and Young Adults

                Creating Hope in the World.

The latter is the theme for this year's district conference, which will be at Eastbourne 20th - 22nd October.  Dave C has a paper copy of the application form.  Alternatively, you cab download one from:  conference@rotarysoutheast.org.uk.

Any Other Business:        Reggie said a Happy Birthday to Margaret and Gerri.

David M asked members to ask around to see if any individual or business is will to be the main sponsor for the Golf Competition in September.  This will cost around £700.

Raffle:                   Won by Dave C (after managing to pick his own name out of Margaret's bag).

Master-at-Arms:              According to Nick, we are still in World Ferret month, and today is World Tapir Day.  It is also the birthday of Michael Fish, the weather man.  On this day in 1791 Samuel Morse was born, and in 1865 the steam ship Sultana blew up on the Mississippi.

Final Toast:         Robert
