Interim Accounts

Early in March 2009 Managing Director Alex Zdnowicz ably assisted by Company Secretary Rob Ley and Finance Director Joe Osben presented their Interim Account in the local Inter Schools competition. Their Company St Mary's Enterprise (St ME) is a Young Enterprise "Company Scheme" company which has been set up and will run to the end of the academic year. Rotarians Frank Field, Martin Haswell and Ray Dixon are acting as Business Advisers and attend the College on Fridays to assist the "Company Members" in the setting up and running of their company. The company is well on target to meet its budget selling a range of novelty gift cards and wrapping paper. The company has come up with the novel concept of using the various option groups in the college to act as sub contract manufacturing units for them greatly increasing their manufacturing capacity and by buying items on a sale and return basis reducing their risk. Their presentation received considerable praise and one of the adjudicators remarked that it was one of the clearest financial presentations she had ever seen comparing it with actual businesses! The company has a number of potential sales opportunities including the annual St Mary's Summer Fair and they employees now have winning the competition in their sights.
