Lunch time meeting - 1pm - Club business

On Thursday 10th November 2022 President Brian Johnson, welcomed 16 club Rotarians to this a lunch time meeting held at the Gilvenbank Hotel.

President Brian mentioned that Hamyra from Iran, one of the peace scholar speakers at the District Conference was going to be speaking at the Hague and was coming to Scotland for a Visa. Brian was going to pick her up in Edinburgh on the Saturday and Jim Boyd was going to take her to Leith on the Sunday. Brian also mentioned that the Colly Café were looking for volunteers. Brian also advised he would be representing the club at the Remembrance Day service this Sunday when he will be laying a Wreath on behalf of the club.

Rotarian Will Wishart will be taking the shoeboxes up to Perth this Wednesday 16th November 2022.

Wilna Roger mentioned the Peace Walk which took place on Wednesday 9th November which was a great success with assemblies being held in the 3 High Schools before walking to the War Memorial. The weather was excellent, and all pupils involved were a credit to their schools. Wilna also spoke about arrangements for the RSNO concert at the Carnegie Halls in January 2023. Wilna also mentioned that she would accept children’s books for the books abroad project.

Iain Oates spoke about the Primary Schools, Ian Chalmers Scots Poetry Competition with himself, Doreen Gray and Jean Haughey being involved. Anne Sampson to notify the three of the schools involved and they would share in the selection. Iain also mentioned the 10k run which he was looking for sponsors with the proceeds going to the Clubs Christmas appeal for the Foodbanks.

All the arrangements for The Scottish Evening being held on the evening of Thursday 24th November at Gilvenbank Hotel with entertainment from The Shands, also pupils from Auchmuty High School. Conner Pratt and the cadet band is a fundraiser supporting the refurbishment of the sensory garden at John Fergus School were now in place.

Next week 17th November 2022 will be a lunch time meeting to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel meeting at 12.45pm and commencing at 12.55pm with our speaker being Lynn Smart from the Glenrothes Foodbank.
