.

On Thursday 9th February 2023 President Brian Johnson, took the meeting as he welcomed 15 Rotarians to this our lunch time meeting held at the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes.

At the start of the meeting President Brian Johnson had the pleasure of awarding his wife Kay the Rotary Foundation badge for becoming a sustaining member.

Discussion took place about the Turkey/Syrian earthquake and what we could do to assist. Kay Johnson and Jim Boyd agreed to investigate the possibility of carrying out a street collection at the Town Centre and approaches were to be made to Fife Council for a licence and Kingdom Centre management It appeared that clothing needs although very important other groups had been overwhelmed with donations and it looked like monetary donations through the Disaster appeals were the quickest and preferred ways to assist. We agreed to publicise the Disaster appeal links on our facebook page.

President Brian mentioned that we had three new members application forms being processed, Rose Duncan, Cameron Macguire and Conner Pratt.

Having heard Bernie Colfords talk last week, Ewen Macdonald had been communicating with Bernie on acquiring 2 defibrillators, one for Cadham and the other for Peploe Drive.

Jean Haughey mentioned that along with Doreen Gray they had visited Collydean Primary where they had helped judge the Ian Chalmers Scots Poetry competition and had a winner to go forward to the finals. They have also been invited along to the school’s prize giving. Jean also mentioned that she had been communicating with Coaltown and South Parks Primary schools concerning their nominations for the competition.
