Buckinghamshire Search and Rescue

A talk by Andrew Bant

Members enjoyed a very informative presentation by Andrew Bant (seen here with President Elect Barbara) from Buckinghamshire Search and Rescue.

Based in Chalfont St. Giles, they are a registered charity and one of the UK’s 35 Lowland Rescue Services currently made up of a team of 83 highly trained volunteers.

They assist the police in searching for lost and missing persons in Buckinghamshire and on occasions in neighbouring districts when called upon.

In 2019 they were on duty for a total of 1,487 hours and assisted in 40 searches. During Covid they trained to administer vaccinations as well as assisting at vaccination centres.

Basic training takes between 6 to 8 months to complete which can be followed by further advanced training in specialist areas which include first aid, drones and thermal imaging as well as various aquatic related courses.

We are fortunate to have such a valuable organisation to call on in desperate situations and we wish them well in all their endeavours, and thank all their members for their service in the community.
