Small businesses dealing with climate change and Welsh Government initiatives. Guest welcome at Novotel

Nick is from Cardiff and spent 12 years in Dubai managing large mixed-use community projects ensuring effective operations. A major aspect of this is looking at energy savings and introducing initiatives of sustainability which is a keen interest. After returning to the UK, Nick has continued with his own bespoke property management company and more recently provides Business Development for ALH Environmental Services Ltd in the recycling sector. In his spare time Nick enjoys the outdoors, rugby, and holds the position of Local Press Officer for Penarth RNLI.

In terms of how our company is ‘dealing with environmental issues’ has perhaps two dynamics. Internally, we are a small company of less than 10 employees with a small carbon footprint and realistically we can only do small initiatives that align with reducing our impact on climate. We record our carbon emissions, we can use green friendly products in our washrooms and go paperless etc etc. On an external level, our company helps other businesses meet their obligations in regard environment issues by providing services that make it simple and easy to dispose of IT and unwanted Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) in an ethical manner. The majority of this waste goes to the incinerator on landfill unless it is remanufactured and reused. We strive to find more and more ways to reuse this type of waste.
