Superintendent Gerald Richardson was fatally shot whilst on duty attending a robbery at a jewellers in Blackpool on 23rd August 1971.
The Superintendent Gerald Richardson Memorial Youth Trust was created in 1974 in his honour & helps people under the age of 25, particularly those physical or mentally handicapped, who live in Blackpool or the surrounding area. The Annual Blackpool Special Schools Concert was held at Ribby Hall Hotel on 19th May.
The Gerald Richardson Trust, Angela Butcher, Trustee & a member of Blackpool Palatine Rotary Club, organised this special concert which was attended by numerous Rotarians, Mayors & Dignitaries.
Schools performing on the day were :-
Pear Tree School who delighted the audience with a Ukelele Band,
Great Arley School - Gas Band
Park School Academy - songs from the musical Matilda
Highfurlond School - Magical Musicals - Greatest Showman, Spice Girls
My Life - songs by Robbie Williams, M People
Red Marsh - songs by George Ezra, Abba
Again the enthusiasm, enjoyment & sheer delight from all the pupils was plain to see. A lot of hard work went into all the performances, & also from staff members of all the schools & trustees.
