Environment

The environment is a major area of Rotary service

Rotarians understand that the whole world is their backyard. They can see the effects of climate change in communities they care about, and they haven’t waited to take action. They’re tackling the problem the way they always do: coming up with projects, using their connections to change policy — and planning for the future.

When visiting our history page you would have read about our involvement with COP26.  Our involvement did not stop there, we have also been involved with COP27 and COP28.

In November 2023, Past President Tariq Durrani attended COP 28 and presented a talk on behalf of Rotary about ‘Improving the Environment of Southern Scotland’.  Subsequently Tariq has introduced Rotary leaders to Singapore Rotary to discuss the possibility of joint action to deal with plastics pollution.

Locally we are in action, as here, with Rotarian Geoff on recent breach clean.
