District Competitions 2019-2020
This page gives details of the various inter-Club competitions held within the District.
The District Boules competition is a summer-time activity, starting in April/May and running through to October; thus each Boules season is in two different Rotary years. During April to September, the 48 – 50 teams that take part (some Clubs enter more than one team), compete in eight leagues of six teams, thus playing five games during the summer. The eight league winners and the next best four teams (or reserves) then compete for the District Trophy at the District Festival of Boules, which is normally held at the Red Bull, Sherston Road, Malmesbury.
This year’s Festival was held on Saturday 5thOctober at the Red Bull, starting at 10.00 a.m. and finishing about 3.00 p.m. with the prize giving presented by DG Judy Powell. It is always impressive seeing up to 48 Rotarians at once locked in friendly combat!
Boules has been an official District sport since 2011, though it has been informally played by some clubs since 1996.
