CIRENCESTER ROTARY CHARITY GOLF DAY

The inaugural charity golf day, organised by Cirencester Rotarian Andy Kerr and held at the prestigious Cirencester Golf Club this month was a huge success and raised £4,300 for Dementia UK and other local Rotary charities. Dementia UK’s specialist Admiral Nurses provide live-changing support to families living with dementia.

With 30 teams of four, participating in the best two Stableford score competition and many fun challenges along the way a great time was had by all.  Despite the forecast being against it, following a week of heavy rain, the weather held off and the course played well.

The winning team on the day was ‘The Rangeford Four’ – James McNee, Oliver Blay, Gwen Webster and Doug Jones; 2nd prize went to ‘The Old Bogeys’ – Brian King, Rob McCall, Graham Short and Bryan Stockwell;  and 3rd to ‘Team Simone’  - Dave Ferris, Mike Barnikel, Adam Gibson and Oli Grace who travelled up from Reading. The Longest Drive Competition was won by Hannah Hyde (Bassett’s Allsorts) for the Ladies and Mark ‘Bosh’ Barnikel for the Mens. Nearest the Pin was won by Paul Stone in team Les Jouers.

Special thanks go to the team at the leading local Golf Club who hosted the event and the many sponsors who made the day possible, including main sponsor Rangeford Villages ‘Siddington Park Cirencester’, lead sponsor Xylem Dewatering Solutions and the leading local businesses who kindly sponsored the holes: Cirencester Dental Practice, Staverton Flying School, Cirencester Fabrication Services, Bluestone Insurance, Cirencester Tyre & Exhaust Centre, Enso Energy, Perry Bishop,  Manesty Consulting, Cannon Estates, Shipston Mill, Peter Armitage, Cain & Fuller and those who donated food for the BBQ: Burgers from Jessie Smith, Sausages from Andrew Butler Butchers and bread rolls from Halls Bakery in Cirencester.  And those who kindly donated great prizes for the competitions and raffle, including: Kings Head Hotel - Full Afternoon Tea for Two; Talking Wines - Magnum (1.5Lt) Baglio Gibellina U Passimiento Wine; Majestic Wines, Bottle of Champagne; Cotswold Hose, Submersible Water Pump; PG Events, the Banner.
