Misbourne Matins undertook to try to provide such a vehicle and a 14 seater Kia Travello has been chosen at a cost of some £12000. The Clubs of St Marylebone, Marlow, Elthorne-Hillingdon and Gerrards Cross have agreed to contribute to the funding and further grants from Rotary have been agreed to achieve the required amount. HAITI RELIEF
Misbourne Matins responds to the Haiti relief efforts with collections at the Beaconsfield Motorway Service Area on behalf of Shelterbox. Members of the club have manned sites at several petrol stations since the disastrous earthquake took place and should raise sufficient funds to supply two shelter boxes. For more information on Shelterbox support for Haiti, see www.shelterbox.org.The picture shows Misbourne Matins Member, Nigel Blackburn and his wife Valerie at the collection point.
Pupils' skills impress in Healthy Eating poster challenge.
Almost 800 children took part in an I.T. competition to design a poster to promote Healthy Eating.
Children from seven schools in Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield, Seer Green and Chalfont St Peter took part in the contest, which was organised by the Rotary Clubs of Misbourne Matins, Gerrards Cross and Chalfont St Peter. The task was to design a poster, with the aid of the computer, which gave information about and would encourage Healthy Eating. The competition was sponsored by BRAMPTONS Partnership and NEXUS IT Consultancy of Gerrards Cross.
The overall quality of the entries impressed the judges who had the difficult task to select the winners. Four winners and four runners-up were presented with prizes at a ceremony in Gerrards Cross Memorial Centre last Friday.
The winners were Tierney Ruhan of Maltmans Green School, Carys Evans of Chalfont St Peter CofE School, Harsimran Gill of St Mary's School, and Daniel Richards of Seer Green CofE Combined School.
Runners-up were Ruby Seimon of St Mary's School, Isabelle Burke of Butlers Court School, Rebecca Cummins of Seer Green CofE Combined School, and Charlotte Spring of St Mary's School.
The best entry for Non-winning Schools went to Benjamin Derry of St Joseph's Catholic Primary School.
Misbourne Matins Rotary Club supports the Gerrards Cross Fun Run with their stand near the finish. 1500 runners took part in the 5K fun run on a beautiful sunny Sunday the 23rd May. A team of 5 from the club completed the run in very respectable times.
