Our Achievements

Chairman Rtn. Bill Whittaker

We had a very successful and productive year.

I give below a short summary of our achievements during the Rotary year

Cleared public footpath at Sandbach Heath of weeds and nettles

Cut back the over grown plants and cleared weeds around the plants on the footpath on Old Mill Road behind Waitrose Store, with the permission and gratitude of the local council  as were other voluntary works in the community.

We rubbed down and varnished the town centre public seats, and the seats in Sandbach  Park to the delight of the Friends of the Park Committee

We assisted the Police with their number plate scheme whereby they replaced the original bolts with tamper-proof ones

Organised a Community walk around Goostrey, followed by lunch at the Crown Inn.

We were very pleased to award the joint honour of ‘Citizen of the Year’ to Elsie and Graham Alcock in recognition of all the voluntary work they do in our town.

We assisted with bag-packing at Elworth Co-op store in December

In January 2011 we attended the first meeting of the Queen’s Jubilee Celebration Committee and pledged Rotary assistance. We were there on 4th June marshalling the picnic at the Square and the evening programme in the park.
