Our speaker today is the Dean of Kings College on the topic -
'World War One and the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols - a perspective'
King's first Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols took place just six weeks after the Armistice was signed in 1918. In this talk, the current Dean of King's explores what was going through the mind of his predecessor as he proposed, organised and lead that service and suggests that key aspects of it adopt a new significance when it is seen to have emerged from the terrors and griefs of war.
