Christmas Lunch

This was Christmas Lunch. The proceedings commenced with an appropriate Christmas message given by Rev Dr Pauline Pearson of St. George's Church, Jesmond and continued with food, fellowship and presentations.


The Club`s Christmas Dinner was held on Friday 18 December at the New Kent Hotel. 62 people were in attendance with 26 0f the Club`s 34 members being joined by the Lord Mayor of the City of Newcastle Councillor Ian Graham and the Lady Mayoress Mrs Margaret Graham, our own District 1030 Governor Terry Long and his wife Marion and partners and friends of the Club members present.

A pleasent meal was followed by a number of presentations made to beneficiaries of the Club`s recent charitable activities.

£500 to DG Terry Long`s fund for relief of victims of the floods in Cumbria and the North East. We were told that £7000 had so far been donated by Rotary Clubs in the North East to this appeal.

£500 to the Peoples` Kitchen

£2000 to Colin Watson of the Rotary Club of Blyth in respect of his project for water aid in Uganda.

£100 each to the Northern Counties and the Percy Hedley Schools for their assistance with the Christmas Collection.

Finally £10000 to CHUF as the Club`s main charity for this Rotary year.
