Rotary Club Lunch Meeting

We meet as usual for lunch at the New Kent Hotel. Our speaker today is Rotarian, George Loble, MBE, who will give a talk entitled, "The Jewish contribution to our economy".


George is a long-standing member of the Gateshead Rotary Club. He lives in Gosforth and is a regular visitor to our Club. He is a prominent member if the Newcastle Reform Synagogue, in Gosforth which recently welcomed a number of our members to a visit including a service and a community meal.

George was the head of his family electrical business, Loblite Ltd, until his retirement in 1994. He was later be awarded an MBE in 2007 for 50 years of voluntary work for a number of charities in the North East and in 2008 launched the £6m Gateshead Skills Academy.

George has published an on-line book of his personal testimony and biography, entitled "The Boy from Bamberg". A copy may be downloaded free from www.The BoyFromBamerg.com
