Coffee with the Lord Mayor

Following an invitation from Lord Mayor Councillor Hazel Stepenson, 14 Club members including wives and partners visited the Silver Gallery at the Newcastle Civic Centre on 15 August


Following the recent official visit of the Lord Mayor to our Club, President Jo received the following message from the Lord Mayor's office:

 "Dear Josephine,  The Lord Mayor, Councillor Hazel Stephenson, would like to invite you and your club to the Silver Gallery for coffee on Monday 15 August at 13:30. Please advise if this date and time is convenient and who will be attending."

The Silver Gallery houses a permanent display of Civic Plate and regalia of the Lord Mayor together with some of the gifts made to the city.over the years. We were given an escorted tour of the room which contains the Civic Regalia and momentos from the citys vast collection of artefacts presented or gifted to the City over the years. Following the tour the visitors enjoyed coffee and light refreshmenrts in the Gallery.

This visit is part of the City and our Clubs recognition of the connections between the two organisations in this the 800th anniversary of the City Mayoralty and our 100th anniversary.

President Jo has sent an email to the Lord Mayor expressing our appreciation to herself, her husband and Consort and the Lord Mayor`s Chauffeur Patrick who made the visit so enjoyable and educational to all those who attended.
