"Unfortunately, we are going to have to cancel the evening with Baroness Joyce Quin on Monday, 17th October.Joyce now finds that she is required to attend a debate in the House of Lords that afternoon and will not be able to attend our inter-Club meeting.
We hope to rearrange the event, perhaps in the New Year , and will let you know as and when.!

Newcastle West Rotary Club had intended holding an event on Monday, 17th October, to which they invited a number of local clubs including ours.

The content of the evening will be a talk by Baroness Joyce Quin on her life as a peer in the House of Lords.

Joyce is originally from the north east. She represented Gateshead and Washington as a Labour MP, and Tyne and Wear as an MEP. She has served as a Minister and Shadow Minister in a number of departments and in the late 1990's was Minister of Europe in Tony Blair's administration.

She was elected to the House of Lords in 2006 as Baroness Quin of Gateshead.

We anticipate that her perspective on the processes of Parliament and her familiarity with matters European will make it a most interesting and topical discussion.

We meet at Westerhope Golf Club at 6pm.The address of the Golf Club is Whorlton Grange, Westerhope, NE5 1PP.

There will be a meal and, once numbers are known, we will circulate a menu with options. The price of the meal is likely to be £8.

I would be grateful if you could let me know of the numbers who might like to attend from your Club so that we can make initial plans.

Please advise President Jo or secretary Linda if you would like to join them.
