Frugal lunch Rose Dawson presenting the Bantaba Project Host - Sally Stewart; Cashier - Joshua Vanneck; Reception - Jenny Shaw

Rose Dawson, a lecturer and therapist from Bedfordshire, visited The Gambia in West Africa in 1980 and was inspired to return and help the people in whatever way she could. After visiting and carrying out research, living at grass root level, Rose set up a business in 1990 and trained many locals in holistic therapies which enabled them to make a living in the tourist hotels. Rose then began ‘The Bantaba Project’ having decided the best way to help was to create Community Centres as a hub for teaching educational workshops and life skills in the rural areas. Rose began building the Community Centre in Saloumdarba, in Madiana at the beginning of 2016.
