Sat, Aug 26th 2017 at 12:00 am- Sun, Aug 27th 2017 - 12:00 am

Nicola and Tony sold £3,500 of raffle tickets for Rotary's partner charity. See report below.

In response to a District 1110 approved email request, originating from Basingstoke Deane Rotary, Nicola volunteered to sell raffle tickets at the Chris Evans inspired CARFEST SOUTH 2017. This was in aid of Children in Need a partner charity with Rotary GB&I.  The event was at Jodie Schecter's farm at   and Chris Evans and of course Pudsey were there.

Nicola with Tony as another willing volunteer spent two days on their feet selling raffle tickets (£10 a pop!) and they personally raised a magnificent total of £3,500. The volunteers, included 8 Rotarians, and between them raised a grand total of £46,000. ALL the proceds from the raffle went to CiN.

Nicola commented: "In short there were 30 volunteers from various groups such as rotary (8 of us) and ladies circle who gave up 3 days to sell raffle tickets for Children in Need. We were on the go all day, I have no idea how far we walked, how many people we spoke to or indeed how much we missed as it is a huge site with 45,000 people there every day, most of whom camp for the 3 days.

The tickets were £10 and there were 3 packages of prizes with 9 different experiences in each package with such things as overnight stays in lovely hotels, afternoon tea, unlimited cinema, Fortnum and Mason champagne and chocolate hamper, Bradley Wiggins signed T shirt, indoor skydiving and James Martin Cookery course at Chewton Glen to name but a few.

It was very tiring but also satisfying to know that we raised a little money.".

Well done Nicola and Tony - more than "a little" raised. John R
