Charity Walk

Sat, Apr 22nd 2023 at 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Four members of our Club took part in an event which aimed to combine the efforts of several Rotary Clubs in the North of England to walk the length of Hadrians Wall in 3 hours.

Start of Hadrians Wall Walk at Wallsend

This was part of an event organised by the Rotary Club of Hexham and involving several Rotary Clubs across the North of England. The original aim was to cover the full length of the wall in just three hours by dividing the walk into several sections, each of which will be woked concurrently by one or more teams.

Our section started at the beginning (or end) of the Wall at the fort of Segedunum (Wallsend) and finished on Newcastle Quayside at the west end on The Close. We the  gathered with three other Clubs in a suitable hostelry in Newcastle for  refreshments.

The event has raise over £870 which has now been sent to Shelterbox, a charity originally founded by the Rotary Club of Helston, which provides humanitarian relief for those in areas such as Ukraine, Turkey and Syria that are affected by upheaval and disaster
