Sunday June 18th is our next opportunity to serve the community and be very visible while doing it!
We were at Wycombe Sainsbury’s yesterday and are there again today to do the usual food drive on behalf of One Can Trust.
There are 3 slots today - Sunday:
10:30 – 12:15
12:15 – 2:00
2:00 – 4:00
We
need at least 2 people present during each slot to be fully effective.
Can you please assist by offering to be present for a 2 hour slot on one
of the days or find a partner, friend, neighbour and be present for one
hour each? Rotary tabards will be there along with the Rotary/One Can
pull up. I will be doing the set up and close down each day.
Please let me know if you are able to assist.
When we do a food drive at Sainsbury’s, food to the value of over £2,000 is collected that would otherwise be purchased for cash by the food bank so it is a very valuable service that we are offering. Already this year it has been necessary for the foodbank to spend £66,772 in cash with food suppliers.
The One Can newsletter for May shows that 28% of the
food donated comes from the regular food drives that are at a
supermarket every weekend somewhere in South Bucks, so they are very
important to the charity.
