Rotary Young Musician Competition
For many years the Rotary Club of King’s Lynn has organised a very successful debating competition for secondary-aged pupils in the area. For the second year another Rotary completion – Young Musician - has been held in King’s Lynn. On 8 November four competitors took part in the local round. The winner was violinist, Zoe Burton from Wisbech Grammar School, whose three pieces greatly impressed the judges and the audience. She played Tchaikovsky’s Canzonetta, Bach’s Gigue Partita III in E Major and, in complete contrast, Gerswin’s It ain’t necessarily so. She goes on to the District round to be held in Norwich in February. In second place was Ukrainian, Iryna Oliinyk, a pupil at Alderman Peel School in Wells.
The Rotary Club is very grateful to Derek Oldfield, Avril Wright and Daniel Jenkins for acting as judges and to Springwood High School for hosting the event.
