Primary Schools Quiz
We run an annual competition for our 13 local primary schools with the winners going on to the finals in Glasgow. bulbs
Primary School - bulb planting
Every year we provide 1,000+ crocus bulbs to a local primary school and help them plant these at a site in their local community.
Young Person's Lunch
This annual event is attended by 2 pupils and one teacher from each of the 13 feeder primary schools to our local secondary school, Stranraer Academy. We always provide a talk on a subject of interest to young people with the topics in recent years including drug abuse, the local lifeboat, North Channel ferries, and talks by a former RAF fighter test pilot, an Olympic gold medallist and our local M.P.
Stranraer Academy Bursary
We provide an annual grant to a pupil who has had to overcome difficulties to go on to further education.
Exemplary Service Award
This award is for the staff member at Stranraer Academy who has gone above and beyond his or her duties for the benefit of the pupils. The winner receives a plaque and nominates a charity to benefit from a donation of £250 provided by us.
Kids Out
In June each year we provide transport, admission and food for local special needs children and their teachers and carers to allow them to visit a Farm Park or other attraction for the day.

Old People's Outing
Every summer we take elderly people to a local tearoom and provide a meal and entertainment.
Coronation Day Centre
We have provided substantial funding over the years including funding a new kitchen.
Thorneycroft and Belmont Care Homes have received financial help in updating their gardens.

Community Service Award
We make this award annually to a member of the public in recognition of service to the community.
We purchased and maintain a defibrillator which is centrally located in the town centre for public use.
Social and fun events:
As well as helping others we arrange events for members such as visiting a distillery, wine tasting and clay pigeon shooting.

moreThis annual Trail Marathon tests runners from the Mull of Galloway lighthouse (southern most point in Scotland) along the coast and across country to the finish at the Stranraer Marina. Here a complimentary BBQ, drinks and music await them as a reward.
