On Thursday 4th July, the first meeting chaired by new President Jim McCulloch, Rotarians, partners and guests enjoyed a meal in the Hawes Inn. They then were shown a splendid audio-visual presentation of the previous Rotary year prepared by Gerald Smith. It covered activities such as Santa's Sleigh, the Senior Citizen's Concert and the Aberdeen and Toronto assemblies as well as social occasions like the barbecue at Yetholm, the race night and Burns Supper. Visiting speakers who had delivered particularly interesting talks were also touched on. The success of Echline Primary School in coming third in the National Primary Schools' Quiz was mentioned and also the club's success in achieving Number One Club in District for Rotary Foundation donations. The presentation also remembered the sad passing of long-standing club member David Batty. In summing up Gerald's round-up, President Jim said his predecessor, Sandy, had had a great Presidential year and left him very big shoes to fill.
