At a Fellowship Meeting of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry on Thursday 12th December, President Jim McCulloch thank all those members who attended the funeral of Twice Past President Charlie Wright in Kirkliston on Wednesday 11th December. In accordance with the wish of Charlie's family, the collection of £942 will be split equally between Marie Curie cancer care and End Polio Now, the worldwide effort to eradicate polio.

Rotarian Gerald Smith announced that £2,300 had been raised for Freedom From Fistula, a charity supported by the club which provides surgery for women suffering from childbirth injuries in Africa. The sum was raised by a donation to the Rotary Club of £500 from Hopetoun House, a collection at Hopetoun Christmas fair and the sale of calendars featuring award-winning photographs by Rotarians and their families. The sum will be doubled by a matching grant from the  Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  President Jim congratulated Gerald and his team for this very significant achievement.
