Speaker - Tom Gold, The Tree Line, Topic Lifecoach
Raffle - Alan Brown
Reception - David Buchanan / Sandy Mackenzie
On
Thursday 12th March the speaker at the Rotary Club of South Queensferry was Tom
Gold. Tom has an honours degree in psychology and is a qualified bushcraft
instructor based in Balfron. He has worked for twenty years withgroups and individuals facing significant
challenges or wanting to make changes in their lives. Man's oldest requirement
is for shelter, food and fire and Tom has seen the benefit in teaching people
to beself-sufficient in an outdoor
environment. Simple tasks can prove invigorating - for example, wood heats you
twice, once when you chop it and once when you burn it. The outdoors need not
be challenging with everyone struggling to complete tasks. Much satisfaction
can be gained by simply learning how to build a fire and shelter in the woods.
Tom has seen how attitudes can be changed in circumstances as varied as a
correctional boot camp in Arizona and a company day out in the countryside near
Glasgow. More information can be found on Tom's website at
www.tomgoldlifecoach.com Tom's presentation prompted many questions from the
floor. He was introduced by David Buchanan and Sandy Mackenzie proposed the
vote of thanks.
