Wednesday 22nd January saw the local heat of Rotary's Young Musician and Young Vocalist of the Year Competition take place in Kirkliston Parish Church. Nine youngsters from Queensferry High School delighted the audience with a varied programme of songs and musical pieces which confirmed the high standard of music teaching at the school and gave the judge a hard task in selecting a winner from both categories.
Mark Henderson took first place in the instrumental section, playing an Adante and Scherzo on the euphonium. The vocalist section was won by Harry Manson who sang Fight the Dragon. Mark and Harry will go on to the Area Final in Lasswade High School on 30th January. Others who performed were Ronnie Whitehouse, Ewan Day, Zach Mills, Kaia Tait, Laurie Whike, Sam Jones and Bruce McPhail. The evening was compered by David Buchanan. We are grateful to Kirkliston Parish Church for making the venue available.'What We Do' Main Pages:
