Meeting held online via Zoom

President Jim McCulloch of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry opened the club's virtual meeting on Thursday 7th May by announcing the Club Council had approved a donation of £500 to the North West Edinburgh Food Bank. This is an area of the Edinburgh Food Project which is part of the nation-wide network of foodbanks supported by the Trussell Trust working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. President Jim also reminded the twenty-seven members and one guest taking part that Sunday 10th May was to have been the day scheduled for this year's Rotary Forth Bridge Abseil which was cancelled because of coronavirus. Last year's abseil marked the milestone of £1 million raised for charity during the event's ten-year existence. The club intends to resume running the abseil as soon as it is safe to organise such an event. There then followed an exchange of fellowship and a short quiz through the medium of Zoom. The quiz was tied between Vikki Renwick and Matt Purdie. Vikki won the tie-breaker by prvoviding the more accurate estimate of the length of the river Thames.
