24th April 2025- Quiz –– Adrian and Alan F
David E has produced some postcard size communications presenting what Rotary and our Club is about.
The President updated us on numbers at 62 for the Charter event with Rob outlining yet another successful Memory Café, with Flintham Dementia team presenting.
Adrian then explained part one of the quiz, suggesting that teams of 4 would be appropriate for the Three letter acronyms beginning with the letter R. He had incorporated a few tricky ones, like Ram air turbine (something, naturally, to do with aeroplanes!); Role playing Games; Royal Mail Ship, Road Traffic Accident {NO points for R T Act! DE). This resulted in Barry’s team (Clive, Derek and Gordon) amounting the full 50 points!? This was followed by a list of 24 ‘things’(ranging from fish, country, item of clothing, illness/disability, Family member [titles only], that again had to begin with the letter ‘R’. The judges allowing one point for a correct answer and three points for a unique correct answer!
This time although they didn’t get the highest score on their own (40points) their combined score won the chocolate prize. Much discussion took place about the scores, with plenty of ‘banter’, but overall, a great evening’s entertainment.
President Gerry proposed the vote of thanks commenting on the effort that the pair had put into the quizzes, thanking them for their preparations, judging and presentation, receiving an appreciative round of applause from members . AR
