Rotary Club makes a £1000 grant to Charity dedicated to bringing relief from toothache in poor communities in Tanzania & Rwanda.

Dental Treatment in Tanzania and Rwanda.

Toothache is, as most of us are aware, can be very unpleasant. Imagine then suffering  the agonies of toothache  day after day  for months on end, with no prospect of any relief. Such is the prospect for many people living in the poorest communities in Tanzania and Rwanda.

In fact 70% of the world's population doesn't have access to a dentist. People are living in constant pain which has a detrimental effect on not only their lives but also their families.

For over a decade the charity bridge2aid has been sending dentists to Tanzania and Rwanda to train local people in basic dentistry. As a result 4 million people now have access to dental treatment.

The charity considers local customs to ensure that the training provided will effectively serve the local needs. The people they train remain in the local community and are able to bring sustainable life changing treatment to the people living there. The trainees are regularly checked to ensure they're continuing to meet the standards required.

Witney  Rotary Club’s International Committee were made aware of the scale of the problem and how the emergency work of bridge2aid promised  long term training and relief.

As a result a recommendation was put to the club to make a grant of £1000 giving positive aid to the charity. Our photo Shows Shaenna Loughnane (R) and Sally Anne (L) from Bridge2aid receiving the cheque from Club President Steve Holborough.
The grant will provide a positive investment for the future of  local communities in Tanzania and Rwanda helping to provide a source of effective treatment that will expand year on year.
