Guy Watson of Laithwaite’s Wines popped in to the meeting to present certificates and lapel badges to Kathy, Lynn, Ann and David who passed the Wines and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 course back in the summer.






He also offered a glass of Rioja for any member who cared to partake. Most did!





He mentioned that another course is being run in Lathwaite’s Brockworth shop in Gloucester on Saturday 1st December 9.45am to 5.30pm.
The course will cover the following topics:

  • The main types and styles of wine
  • Common wine grapes and their characteristics
  • How to store and serve wine
  • The principles of food and wine pairing
  • How to describe wine using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine (SAT)

Course Fee £95 (incl lunch) or £80 pp for groups of 3 or more.
